Erik is an associate professor of Geosciences at Denison University. His research focusses on how magma is stored in the crust underneath volcanoes -- some might call him a volcanologist, others might call him a petrologist. He loves to use zircon as a tool to understand the age of magma. He's also been writing about volcanoes online since 2008, first with Eruptions and now at Rocky Planet. In his obviously copious spare time, he wrangles two kids, watches the Mariners not win and has lately been into cricket.

Janine is a volcanologist from New Zealand with a passion for volcanoes and science communication. After unexpectedly becoming the global communicator for the Agung volcanic crisis in 2017, she is working to make volcanology more accessible and understandable for everyone. Janine's research has been on explosive eruptions including Strombolian and Vulcanian eruptions, and pyroclastic flows.
